In July 2022, the Newport Car Museum Gift Shop hit the accelerator, doubling in size to a vibrant 2,100 sq. ft. of shopping excitement! When a back wall was blown out to make room for even more clothing and artwork, it became an instant hit with visitors. With over 60,000 guests exploring the Museum each year, rave reviews have poured in about the shop’s quality, variety, and value. The verdict? Prices that please, items you won’t find anywhere else, and a space that’s as visually fun to explore as the Museum’s seven stunning galleries, where cars are displayed as art and tell the story of automotive design through the ages.

Step beyond the Gift Shop’s glass doors and you’ll find some delightful surprises, including a six-foot-tall motorized K’NEX Ferris wheel built from 8,550 pieces and a dazzling display of colorful die-cast cars waiting for new owners—young or simply young at heart.

Inside, the shelves are packed with treasures: Newport Car Museum gear, car-inspired T-shirts and sweatshirts, best-selling Buckle Down keychains, belts, and lanyards, prints of the Museum’s iconic cars, locally themed gifts (think lobster platters and stuffed sharks!), plus books, puzzles, toys, and greeting cards for every occasion.

“We like to say we sell more exotic and classic cars than any dealership in the Northeast,” laughs Museum Co-Founder Maggie Buerman, who curates the shop’s unique selection—and even built the epic K’NEX Ferris wheel herself. “Kids light up when they spot the pink Lamborghinis and flower-power VW vans, while adults love hunting for dream cars like the 1966 Ford GT40, 1957 Chevy Bel Air, or Porsche 911 GT3. We’ve even got Lamborghinis and McLarens!”

Above all, Buerman says, the Gift Shop is designed to make people smile. “It’s a happy place,” she adds. “In many ways, it’s become our eighth gallery—bursting with color, energy, and fun.”
