Named after legendary Formula 1 driver Ayrton Senna, this extremely track-focused hypercar is McLaren’s most calculated masterpiece. Its unmistakable appearance is dominated by numerous air intakes and aerodynamic additions that create incredible downforce. This 2019 McLaren Senna is one of 500 examples produced to commemorate Ayrton Senna’s success with the McLaren Formula 1 team from 1988 to 1993, during which Senna placed first in 35 races and won three Drivers’ Championship titles.
Power comes from a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transaxle. Other performance equipment includes active aerodynamics, carbon-ceramic brakes, staggered-size center-locking wheels, a RaceActive Chassis Control II hydraulic suspension, adjustable driving modes, and driver aids.
The Senna utilizes a carbon-fiber monocoque platform for a minimum U.S.-spec curb weight of 2,897 pounds with fluids and fuel. The car is capable of generating 1,764 pounds of downforce at 155 mph, and active aerodynamic bodywork helps maintain that level of downforce through to the car’s manufacturer-claimed top speed of 211 mph.
